Spectacular Perseid meteor shower for Sky Gazers

If you are hobbyist of sky gazing - nothing could be better than this time to gaze sky and watch the most spectacular meteor shower ever in your lifetime.

Yes, what the sky gazers are experiencing these days , that is period between mid July to mid August, is spectacular. However, last night was the best when up to 60 meteors were seen in one hour skirting across the sky from the comet Swift-Tuttle and won't be seen again until 2125.

Meteors, commonly known as shooting stars, are the result of small particles entering the Earth's atmosphere at high speed. These heat the air around them, causing the characteristic streak of light seen from the ground.

See many more spectacular and incredible photos of the meteor show here.

The Seasons of Saturn - NASA Picture of the Day

Since Saturn's axis is tilted as it orbits the Sun, Saturn has seasons, like those of planet Earth ... but Saturn's seasons last for over seven years. So what season is it on Saturn now? Orbiting the equator, the tilt of the rings of Saturn provides quite a graphic seasonal display. Each year until 2016, Saturn's rings will be increasingly apparent after appearing nearly edge-on in 2009. The ringed planet is also well placed in evening skies providing a grand view as summer comes to Saturn's northern hemisphere and winter to the south.

The Hubble Space Telescope took the above sequence of images about a year apart, starting on the left in 1996 and ending on the right in 2000. Although they look solid, Saturn's Rings are likely less than 50 meters thick and consist of individually orbiting bits of ice and rock ranging in size from grains of sand to barn-sized boulders.

Use a giant 'pencil sharpener' to peel vegetables

We have been sharpening pencils with pencil sharpeners since our childhood - but what about peeling vegetable with a gadget that looks like a pencil sharpener - only bigger in size.

Well that's true. Karoto peeler can remove the skin from root vegetables in 30 seconds. And that is not all. The 'shavings' it creates can also be used to decorate salads.

Scroll down for demo video

The Karoto looks and works like an oversized pencil sharpener to peel vegetables such as courgettes and carrots or any similar-shaped vegetable such as the cucumber or parsnip.

Priced at £9.95, the Karoto peeler can speed  up the task and reduce the  danger to fingers in using a knife or peeler.

The kitchen gadget is 3-inches long and 2-inches wide and can also be used to sharpen carrots, for example, for presentation purposes.

Jenni Day, sales manager at London-based Luckies - the gift site that sells the Karoto in the UK - said: 'The Karoto is a really fun, quirky gift that can make preparing dishes a bit more interesting.

'It makes peeling vegetables easy and can be used with any long root vegetables such as carrots, courgettes, parsnips, and cucumbers.

Peeling of the boiled egg shell is really time consuming - but not for those who are in a hurry for the office.

I came across this 'guillotine' like approach for speedily peeling of egg shell from a boiled egg at Funzug and thought of sharing with my readers. It may help those who are tired of using ordinary and most adopted method.

Here it goes:

So far so good. Rest is all simple:

I am sure you would find it interesting - worth trying - isn't it?

Egg Yoke separating made easier without a mess [video]

We often seen women and chefs dirtying their hands for separating the egg yokes from whites while baking or making dishes where such separation is required.

But not anymore: we now have a simple 'device' that can suck the egg yoke without making any mess in the kitchen.

After the egg has been cracked into a bowl the gadget, which works like a pipette, sucks up the yolk into a wide-mouthed plastic nozzle when the rubber top is squeezed.

It then holds the yolk safely until the cook is ready to use it, when with another squeeze of the top it plops it back out in one piece.

This amazing and simple device has been invented by Hamish Dobbie, 30, a mechanical engineer, from Auckland, New Zealand.

World's smallest RC helicopter - that can land on your computer mouse

It has been a long time since I talked of RC gadgets in my blog - RC gadgets which are fun to handle and fly.

But today I am forced to talk about an innovation, which really amazing. While we talk of giant size RC aeroplanes that RC gadget hobbyists boastfully fly around the world, I wondered we ever heard of something smaller - really small.

So let us talk of a smallest RC gadget. This is a helicopter toy which is amazing in details, functions and flight, and yet is the smallest RC helicopter.

This tiny RC helicopter has a body size of just 6.5 cm (2.5 in) long and weighs a scant 11 g (0.38 oz). The infrared controller, which takes four AA alkaline batteries, has a range of just 5 m (16 ft), which may be a good thing.

In fact it is so small that it can land over your computer mouse - if you have that precision in handling rs controllers.

This amazingly tiny helicopter toy is the brainchild of Namco Bandai subsidiary CCP toys - and claim this Nano-Falcon remote-controlled helicopter toy to be the world's smallest.
