10 majestic shots of the bald eagle

Of all the birds, eagle is the most majestic and powerful bird with its extraordinary wing span and ability to soar high and high to reach the sky.

And of the various species of eagle, bald eagle has majesty of its own. Known for its white feathered head, from which it draws its name of being bald. However the bald eagle is not actually bald. But from a distance, the white feathered head has been symbolically referred to it being bald. Bald is eagle is found in the USA, Canada, Alaska and Mexico. It is also the national bird of the USA. Other than its head, the bald eagles also have white feathered tail, while the remaining body is brown in colour.

Bald eagles are part of a group of eagles known as "sea eagles," birds of prey in the genus Haliaeetus. Bald eagles have two known sub-species and forms a species pair with the white-tailed eagle. Like all birds of prey, eagles have very large powerful hooked beaks for tearing flesh from their prey, strong legs, and powerful talons. They also have extremely keen eyesight to enable them to spot potential prey from a very long distance. Its diet consists mainly of fish, but it is an opportunistic feeder. It hunts fish by swooping down and snatching the fish out of the water with its talons.

I have collected some beautiful compositions from Jalalspages Birds Watchers’ Album on Flickr and am sharing for the pleasure of my viewers, especially those who love birding.
